SPRINGFIELD — The Lincoln Land Community College 2024 Juried Student Art Show is now on display through May 10, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the Trutter Museum/James S. Murray Gallery, located on the upper floor of Menard Hall, Springfield campus, 5250 Shepherd Road.
Winners of various awards were announced at an opening reception: Erin Peterson of Sherman – Capstone, Ellie Lieber of Springfield – Best of Show, Anneke Finch of Springfield – 3D, Ashlyn Brickey of Buffalo – Drawing, Ren Schattschneider of Springfield – Painting, Faith Barnett of Waverly – Photography, Anaela Martin of Springfield – Digital, Aurora King of Chapin – Art History and Abby Oller of Springfield – Student Show Poster.
Lilith Bing of Cantrall was honored with the Alexis Wernsing Pinnacle Award. This award was established in memory of Wernsing, a 2011 ͷapp graduate. The winner is chosen by ͷapp art faculty and goes to the student who best embodies Wernsing’s qualities of striving for the best in all academic endeavors without complaint and no matter the context.
“This was one of the best Student Art Shows we have had in my 24 years of teaching,” said Al Shull, professor of art. “The caliber of work is very strong.” Professor Laura Anderson added, “Not only did we have a lot of work in this year’s exhibition, but the work was also very well done, which made it tough to select winners. Everyone who participated should be proud of the great work they shared.”
