Program Highlights

Acquire hands-on experience to build your skillset for the growing industry of construction trades.

  • Gain practical experience in various facets of the construction trades.
  • Develop your skills in all areas of the construction trades, including blueprint reading, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, wiring and more.
  • Skills learned can be used to be a construction laborer, construction supervisor/foreman, brick mason and construction carpenter.

Info Sessions

Attend an upcoming information session to learn more and get on a path to a great career in construction occupations! Events will be held at the Workforce Careers Center on ÌÀÍ·Ìõapp's main campus in Springfield. Upcoming dates include: Wednesday, Dec. 4, 5:30-7:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Jan. 28, 9-11 a.m.; and Tuesday, Feb. 18, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Cost

For fall 2024, spring 2025 and summer 2025, building maintenance (BDM) classes have a tuition rate of $210 per credit hour for in-district residents, except BDM 208. All other classes in the program have a standard in-district rate of $140 per credit hour. Get more information on tuition and fees.

Students are expected to have a basic set of construction tools.  sold separately.

Expansion of high school construction program

High school students will explore construction apprenticeships, while learning through hands-on labs and field trips to work sites. Participating students will receive free tools, work boots and personal protective equipment. They will earn college credit from ÌÀÍ·Ìõapp as well as certification from the National Center for Construction Education and Research and be trained in OSHA 10 construction safety, CPR, forklift and aerial lift.
