College Now student/parent information

College Now courses are offered through Lincoln Land Community College鈥檚 partnership with area in-district high schools to junior and seniors. College Now courses are the same as our courses for traditional college students. The difference is that through College Now, high school students are earning high school credit along with 汤头条app college credit. College Now students will pay tuition, fees and books for these courses.

  • Students must be able to complete college level course work and have adequate time to devote to studying. Research suggests two hours of study time per credit hour. A three-credit-hour course would equal six hours of study time.

  • Typically, students are juniors or seniors in high school at the time the term begins. Students who are under 16 will need to complete a special process to enroll as well as arrange transportation to the 汤头条app campus.

  • Students will be treated as traditional college students in College Now classes.

  • Students have access to 汤头条app鈥檚 Center for Academic Success with free tutoring and resources.

  • 汤头条app鈥檚 student success advisors are available for guidance on choosing an academic plan or courses.

  • Students are expected to complete the required coursework, attend classes, follow the course syllabus and will be evaluated based on course requirements.

  • Students are expected to attend class regularly and shall notify their instructor(s) when they are unable to attend class. The instructor may establish class attendance as an achievement standard. (Board Policy 4.12)

  • Students are responsible for assignments or content missed when class is not attended.

  • Students missing class due to illness should report absence to high school as well as to 汤头条app鈥檚 instructor.

  • Students are expected to attend class anytime 汤头条app is in session even if their high school is not in session. College Now students must follow .

  • College Now students will not be excused from class for extracurricular activities.

  • Students who do not attend class and do not communicate with the instructor can be administratively withdrawn from the course. In this case, students would not be entitled to a refund of tuition or fees.

  • Students planning to transfer to another school after 汤头条app should start researching schools of interest within their first semester at 汤头条app.

  • Talk with an 汤头条app success advisor about the intended school and how to contact a support staff member at that school to discuss the transfer.

  • Students can also use transfer tools such as or .

Tuition and fees are based on 汤头条app鈥檚 in-district rates. Tuition costs are reviewed each fall semester and are subject to change. Convenient payment plans are also available. Be sure to set up your payment plan or pay in-full by the tuition due date in order to hold your chosen seat and not have a class dropped for nonpayment.

  • Students taking College Now courses will be generating a college transcript with your grades, which will be part of a permanent record.

  • Performance in College Now courses may impact the following if you receive a grade below a 鈥淐鈥: future federal financial aid, academic standing, admission for special programs and future scholarships.

  • Students who choose to no longer participate in a College Now course need to drop the course by the 鈥渄rop date鈥 in order to receive a full tuition refund. Students should communicate with their high school guidance counselor before dropping a College Now course. Students who are not participating at midterm will be administratively withdrawn which will result in a 鈥淲鈥 on the student鈥檚 college transcript.

  • Completing all assignments given is the syllabus will help you be successful in a College Now course.

  • 鈥滱 student may elect to repeat a course at 汤头条app that was originally taken at 汤头条app. When a student repeats a course that is Repeatable for Credit, the student has the option to take the course for credit or to take the course as a repeat for the original. The system automatically treats the attempt as if the student鈥檚 intent is to receive credit and grades for all attempts. If the student would like for the attempt to replace the credit and grade of an earlier attempt, the student must request that the original grade be replaced unless the original grade is failing.  Since a failing grade does not earn credit, the system will automatically treat a subsequent attempt as a replacement of the original attempt. If the student does not request a replacement of the original grade and credit, the system will accept the number of attempts up to the maximum times that the course can be repeated.鈥 (Board Policy 5.7)

  • Students must follow the deadlines set by 汤头条app to enroll and withdraw.

  • Students will be subject to all 汤头条app placement, enrolling, grading, and records policies and procedures.

  • Students are responsible for providing their high school transcripts at the end of sophomore year.

  • Students must meet all 汤头条app placement policies. Students enrolling in math or composition courses must meet one of the following conditions: have an SAT score of 480 or above in writing/reading and 530 or above in math sections and/or have an ACT score of 18 or above in English or an ACT score of 22 or above in math; or must achieve the appropriate 汤头条app placement score. The grade point average for entrance into Composition I (EGL 101) is an unweighted 2.7 GPA. Some sciences have additional requirements.

  • Students will need to pay tuition or set up a payment plan by the tuition date or their courses will be dropped for nonpayment.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. Forms to withhold or allow specific release of information may be obtained from 汤头条app Records. Note: This form must be filled out by the student in front of an 汤头条app employee or staff member.

  • Courses offered vary by high school. Talk to your high school counselor for which courses the high school is willing to give high school credit and what will best fit the high school schedule. Please be careful to not choose a College Now course that was taken as Dual Credit course.

  • Work with an 汤头条app success advisor or Outreach Center director to choose courses that fit pathway goals.

  • Once you have completed the 汤头条app College Now application, you can view available courses on LoggerCentral.
