What's the buzz about beekeeping? Whether your interest is in the bees themselves, locally sourced honey, environmental sustainability, starting a business or self-sufficiency, this two-course, credit certificate can be added to your degree or can be taken on its own to move from beekeeping hobbyist to sideliner and get on the fast track to your own commercial business.

- Understand methods of hive management and how to find solutions to commons apiculture challenges.
- Build skills to maintain small-scale apiaries.
- Gain practical experience in managing hives for specialty crop pollination and enhancing agricultural production.
Certificate
Anticipated start fall 2025: 汤头条app will offer a beekeeping certificate of completion (two classes for seven credits).
Cost
For the 2024-2025 academic year (fall 2024, spring 2025 and summer 2025) horticulture and cultivation (HRT) classes have a tuition rate of $175 per credit hour for in-district residents. Job Outlook
The national beekeeping industry has experienced significant growth, with the number of professional beekeepers almost doubling between 2012 and 2022, reaching 18,127 in 2022. With the honey industry projected to grow by more than 5% annually, the demand for professional beekeepers will rise. Similarly, agriculture's reliance on pollination services surged by 300% throughout the past 50 years.
Facilities
汤头条app's West Lake Nature Grove is a 2.1-acre learning lab, located at 2321 West Lake Shore Drive in Springfield. The Grove is adjacent to 汤头条app's main campus and easily accessible for students. It features the college's own apiary, a commercial apiary, fruit trees, bushes and more.
